FEEDING

The Wayuu Taya Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of the most vulnerable communities living along the border between Venezuela and Colombia, particularly the indigenous population who have limited access to infrastructure and resources. These communities often lack access to clean water, electricity, gas, and sewage systems, leading to high rates of disease, malnutrition, and viruses. Despite these challenges, the population remains resilient.

In 2022, the foundation has continued to provide aid to more families and communities in Venezuela through Humanitarian Aid helping 102,495 people.

In partnership with Frank Giustra, Acceso, Giustra Foundation, CORE, Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen Foundation, and Aid Live Foundation, Wayuu Taya has launched a weekly food program to support the Wayuu community.

In 2022, the ACCESO food program has benefited 148 communities, 62 schools, 58 institutions, and NGOs, providing 151,949 kilograms of vegetables and serving over 660,487 plates of food, benefiting over 60,000 people since the program's inception. The program has been made more efficient with the support of World Central Kitchen, which provided a Ford 350 cargo truck to facilitate the transportation of food from ACCESO in Colombia twice a week.

The foundation has received 4,834 tons of medicine and supplies from Direct Relief, benefiting 26,028 people across Venezuela.

The foundation has also provided assistance to specific communities affected by natural disasters, including Hurricane Huila and floods, with medical supplies for approximately 1,500 families thanks to Global Giving.

The foundation has also received a batch of 12,000 kilograms of dental and hygiene supplies from Colgate Palmolive, which has enabled the foundation to provide oral hygiene education in schools and distribute toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other supplies to students.

More than 120,000 bars of soaps have been distributed in the area thanks to our partnership with Clean The World Foundation.

Our allies CORE, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Global Giving, Direct Relief, Clean The World, ACCESO, World Central Kitchen, Giustra Foundation, Clinton Foundation, Corporations and individuals have made this possible.

MEDICINE AND SUPPLIES

It is essential for the Wayuu Taya Foundation to lend its unconditional support to the diverse indigenous communities in regards to health and nutrition, especially since these communities tend to be synonyms of extreme poverty and malnutrition; Given the aforementioned reason, institutional alliances are created in the medical and health area to promote the execution of campaigns to raise awareness and to foment prevention and diagnosis, thus contributing to their wellbeing and protection against pathologies.

The Foundation supports organizations responsible for vaccination campaigns for the immunization and prevention of diseases in children and teenagers, as well as those who provide medical equipment and medication to the different health institutions in the adjacent zones of the Wayúu community, in order for their inhabitants to have access to proper healthcare. These contributions are possible thanks to the alliances with other foundations.
